Overview

This is a three night,four day walking safari spanning the Tumaren conservation area and neighboring land.

Walking Safaris specializes in walking safaris supported by camels. Our trips offer a unique perspective on not just the animals but the land they live in. On foot, we fine tune our senses and experience the country in vivid and exciting detail. Our Mobile Walking Safaris are supported by camels who carry all the gear from campsite to campsite, whereas on our Walking Safaris from a Base Camp, guests stay at Tumaren Camp or a Satellite Camp and go out each day on walks, camel rides, drives, or rock climbing.   

HIGHLIGHTS

Explore and experience the region on foot as we walk from site to site, supported by our camels who carry all the equipment. Accommodation ranges from luxury to basic.

Hugely popular with our Elephants who love to wallow in its muddy stretches, the river offers a great opportunity to approach, study and photograph these riveting animals.

Itinerary

This morning fly to Nanyuki and transfer by road to Nyasura Camp where camels, the team, cool drinks and lunch await. This afternoon enjoy a guided game walk and introduction to the area. Enjoy sundowner drinks before returning to camp for a delicious dinner.

Early morning after breakfast walk north towards Nyarara Camp. Spot herds of zebra, oryx, and many gazelles grazing on the large plains, arriving into camp for lunch, followed by an afternoon of relaxation. Early evening enjoy another walk followed by sundowners.

This morning walk towards the Ewaso Nyiro River, running along the eastern edge of the Laikipia Plateau, and on towards Samburu Game Reserve. Along the way spot giraffe, zebra and search for lion, leopard, cheetah or hyena. On arrival at Tumaren Ewaso Camp enjoy a swim before lunch. Early evening enjoy another walk followed by dinner.

After breakfast, depart for the scheduled flight back to Nairobi where safari ends.

When and where does the tour end?
Your tour will conclude in Nairobi on Day 4 of the trip.
When and where does the tour start?
Day 1 of this tour is arrival and to Nairobi and fly to Nanyuki and transferred by road to Nyasura Camp where the camels, team ,cool drinks and lunch await.
Do you arrange airport transfers?
Airport transfers are not included in the price of this tour, however you can book for an arrival transfer in advance. In this case our representative will be at the airport to greet you. To arrange this please contact our customer service team once you have a confirmed booking.
What is the age range
This tour has an age range of 1-70 years old, this means children under the age of 12 are eligible to participate in this tour. However, if you are over 70 years please contact us as you may be eligible to join the tour if you fill out Thinkk Travels self-assessment form.
Are tips included?
Tips and gratitudes are not included in safari cost, they range from 10 to 20 USD per person per day given on the last day of the safari.
